Theme of SDP:
Despite the economic slowdown that
impacted the world economy in recent past, it is believed that the process of
globalization is irreversible. As we
progress from an economy dominated by the traditional brick and mortar models
to the one of click and mortar models, we remain unsure how it will shape up
the global business landscape in the near future. Moreover the impact on the social and
political ecology too remains untested.
A business model not only specifies how a company intends to make
money. It also includes information about why a customer would ever want to
give the company any money. At present
we have many business strategies but their value realization is very low. The
customers are having enough choices but they are not satisfied. This
paradoxical situation demands organizations to think about new alternatives and
this search is on.
The old principles are no longer work in the new economy. We need local solutions
to local problems. Old models limit themselves with respect to complexity and
speed of implementation. Quite contrary to the belief, innovation rests not in the technology or product, but in the
business model itself. Further, new
issues and concerns related to gender, social responsibility, environmental
responsibility and corporate ethics are influencing the functioning of the
corporate.
While we remain uncertain over the turn of the
events in the future, it would be interesting to explore the directions the
global society, economy and polity would traverse in the coming years and its
consequent impact on India as well as the Indian management impact on the
global scenario. The SDP would give an
opportunity to the Management Faculty to understand the Emergent Business
Models and Trends which are having significant bearing on value creation to all
the stake holders. This programme by
bringing together academia and industry experts will seek answers for the
emergent challenges posed before India’s upward thrust in the knowledge era.
